Lindisfarne, Holy Island, United Kingdom June 2017

1400 years ago monks under St. Cuthbert came to Holy Island to establish a monastery. It was here that the Lindisfarne Gospels were written. Centuries later, the monks were under threat from Viking raiders. They carried the relics of St. Cuthbert and the Lindisfarne Gospels on a trek that lasted decades.

Down this lane they went carrying their treasure. Our own journeys are characterized by the bend in the road. We don’t know exactly where we are going. We walk in faith. What treasure are we carrying?
